Jessa Marcenko, M.A.C.P., B.Sc., Registered Provisional Psychologist
I take pride in being able to offer my clients an eclectic approach. I believe this approach allows me to provide my clients with the best fit for their specific needs. Clients who have found relief in my care have had goals of decreasing their anxiety and trauma-related symptoms, depressive symptoms, problematic behaviours, issues arising from a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, burnout, ADHD tendencies, OCD and perfectionism tendencies. Others have had goals to increase their stress management, coping skills, work/life balance, self-esteem, self-compassion, boundaries and healing childhood wounds. Additionally, I am passionate about helping individuals figure out their next move when feeling stuck.
I support my clients through the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness. I do not yet offer what is called “standard DBT,” but my approach is considered to be DBT-informed. See the blog for more information regarding this. By integrating these evidence-based techniques, I offer a comprehensive toolkit designed to address a wide range of mental health challenges. My use of CBT provides a structured framework for identifying and changing negative thought patterns, while DBT focuses on balancing acceptance and change, particularly in managing emotions and interpersonal relationships. Mindfulness complements these therapies by encouraging clients to stay present and engaged with their experiences, fostering greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. My direct yet empathetic approach ensures that every session is tailored to meet your unique needs and goals, empowering you to achieve meaningful and lasting change in your life. I additionally am able to support my clients with Written Exposure Therapy (WET), which has promising research in decreasing PTSD symptoms.
I enjoy guiding couples through the levels of the “relationship house” and discovering their relationship’s strengths and weaknesses. Discovering that there is a weakness in the foundation of the relationship helps to guide our sessions in productive ways. This assessment can then help to strengthen and restore the emotional connections that have faded and increase conflict management skills that are lacking. I utilize the popular Gottman Method to achieve this progress and have completed their Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
